THE Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU)'s stock on the local scene keeps rising if the recently held Environmental Law Research Symposium: Environmental Justice in Practice — Strengthening Legal Education, Community Access, and Policy in Zimbabwe, held on, 19th November 2025, at Cresta Msasa, is anything to go by.
Bachelor of Laws Level 5 students, Cute Mbiriza and Kudzai Brian Tapfuma had the privilege to make presentations on the day.
Cute wrote a full paper and presented under the thematic area of "Policy Innovation and Institutional Transformation".
"I'm proud to have represented Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University (ZEGU) alongside Kudzai Brian Tapfuma, making us a dynamic duo from our institution.
"The symposium was an incredible experience, with thought-provoking presentations and engaging discussions. I had the privilege of interacting with and learning from talented law students from various institutions, including Africa University, University of Zimbabwe, Midlands State University, and Great Zimbabwe University," said Cute.
Meanwhile, Brian presented on Climate Litigation as a Strategic Tool to Strengthen Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in Zimbabwe, exploring how legal frameworks and community engagement can drive meaningful environmental governance.
He said: "Grateful to collaborate with fellow legal scholars, practitioners, and activists committed to securing a sustainable and just future for Zimbabwe
"What an honour to participate in the Environmental Law Research Symposium".
The event, organized by the Environmental Law Units of the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) Faculty of Law and Midlands State University (MSU) Faculty of Law, in collaboration with the Zimbabwe Environmental Law Organisation (ZELO) through the @African Institute of Environmental Law (AIEL), spotlighted critical discussions on advancing environmental justice.
