SHOT IN THE ARM FOR ZEGU

EFFORTS to 'develop a total person' at ZEGU have received a significant boost after Law student-cum entrepreneur, Tawana Muvhundura donated a new, sleek football kit to the university.

Addressing the ZEGU media crew after the handover ceremony of the football kit at the main campus in Bindura, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Innocent Chirisa said the donation goes a long way in 'complementing' the university's mantra.

"This donation is a milestone for the university. It's always a pleasure to see our own students complementing the university's efforts to produce a total person."

"Under Education 5.0 the expectation is that our students are not just people who drink, eat notes and end there, but they should see problems within communities, society, commerce and industry.

"…and not only analyse them, but come up with solutions," said Prof. Chirisa.

Commenting on the donation, Tawana, a Level 3, Law student said the move was driven by the need to play active role in the development of the university.

"The donation has been a long time coming. Given the resources at my disposal as growing businessman and entrepreneur, I saw it fit to make positively impact my university.

"However, it wasn't just me, but other corporates who were willing to partner with me on this project after seeing the genuine need on the ground," said Tawana.

Furthermore, Prof. Chirisa opined that the donation is of paramount importance as sport is one of the most effective ways of fighting drug and substance abuse amongst the youths and community in general.

The ZEGU Leopards - as the university's football team is affectionately - have grown into a formidable outfit that has gone on to represent the university commendably well at various competitions such as the ZUSA games.

The Bindura-based university prides in itself as it stands head and shoulders above other tertiary institutions in churning out entrepreneurs and leaders par excellence, who have gone on to positively impact society locally and globally.
